Inhales deeply

Ahhh the fresh air of Switzerland—and cow poop.

Tuesday was one of my favorite days so far. We took a long train ride farther east into the Alps to a super cute town. The alps are our favorite part of Switzerland. Sure the rest is great too—way prettier than any part of Oklahoma in the United States, but the Alps seriously take the breath away.

Nearly three hours of bus and train rides we get into this quant town deep in the alps surrounded by mountains on every side. Getting off the train you instantly here the clear blue mountain waters that flow through the town. After a short walk we get to the cable car where it takes us nearly to the top. There awaits the mountain coaster, which wasn’t exactly how we imagined but it didn’t disappoint. In our heads we thought it took us all the way down the mountain. In truth it’s more like a child’s rollercoaster but it’s totally worth every penny.

Ryan was able to record the ride and there will be videos posted later. Check back soon!

After the thrill of the ride we walked a mile to the clearest lake we had ever seen. I didn’t know we would be able to swim so I wasn’t prepared and that ladies and gentleman is the worst part of that day. So sadly I did not swim. But man-o-man was it a beaut.

After that we rode the coaster one more time before we decided to hike down the mountain.

Now Oregonians. You’re thinking like a normal mountain. The alps are no joke. They are steep. I’m not that old and my knees were non too happy that we were at a 50 degree angle the whole time. The full decent was 1249ft. It was a super fun hike and we actually and wished we hiked up it though passing hikers were starting that we chose wisely. We got to pass through lots of pastures with cows whose bells chimed with every movement making pretty noise throughout the climb down. There were lots of small gates we went through made for hikers to pass without letting cows get out.

Once at the bottom we grabbed some lunch and headed our slow journey back to our BnB. The views, hikes, and rides all a brilliant way to spend the day.

Au Revoir
